Moong Dal Chilla

Moong Dal Chilla

Hello friends....
Today's recipe is Moong Dal chilla.  Moong dal chilla is north Indian food which is very famous. It is like pancakes of moong lentils ablnd the combination of some spices and veggies.

Moong dal chilla is high in nutrition and easy to make recipe. I especially like this because it takes less time, very tasty and good thing about it is you can serve it to all weather children or adults.
If you are making chilla for children you can skip chilies. Chilla is made from moong lentils so the dish is full of protein which is compulsory element for your growing children. Chilla is high in nutrition and less in oil so you can make it for every member of your family.
You can make chilla in two ways. First one is paneer or potato stuffed chilla and second one is plain. I personally like plain chilla so I'll share the recipe of plain chilla here.
You can make chilla for snacks or breakfast. If you are planning to make it for breakfast so you have to soak it overnight and if you are making it for snacks then soak it for 3 - 4 hours. Firstly we will wash the moong lentils and soak them overnight. Now wash the moong lentils 2-3 times and make paste of it in a grinder jar. Add turmeric powder and salt in it. Mix finally chopped onion and tomato. If you don't like tomatoes, you can skip it.  You can add more veggies according to your taste. Now batter is ready to make chilla. Hot a nonstick pan or tawa on a medium flame. Grease it with oil and spread it nicely. Flip the chilla and roast uniformly on the both sides. Serve it hot with tomato sauce or coriander chutney. Moong dal chilla can be made with both split & husked moong or whole moong. In this recipe I have used yellow moong lentils. Some spices and herbs are also added.
